University of Florida experts Michael S. Okun, M.D., chair of UF neurology and executive director of the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases at UF Health, and Frederick S. Southwick, M.D., an infectious disease expert, were recently featured in a U.S. News & World Report article informing patients with Parkinson’s disease and their families about COVID-19. The article also highlights their efforts to inform the public through Parkinson’s Foundation Facebook Live events.

“People living with Parkinson’s disease are at high risk if they contract COVID-19, whether they are above age 50 or if they have young-onset Parkinson’s disease, which occurs in people younger than 50,” said Southwick.
