MBI members named UF Research Foundation Professors for 2020

Angelos Barmpoutis, Ph.D. and Brian Hoh, M.D. were named UF Research Foundation Professors for 2020 for their distinguished research record and a strong research agenda that is likely to lead to continuing distinction in their fields.

Barmpoutis is an associate professor of digital arts and sciences and an affiliate faculty member in the computer and information science and engineering department and the J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering. He also serves as the coordinator of research and technology in the Digital Worlds Institute. His current research focuses on interdisciplinary applications of computer science and engineering to service broad areas of learning and training.

Hoh, a neurosurgeon and chair of the Lillian S. Wells Department of Neurosurgery, is an internationally known expert in the treatment of brain aneurysms, brain arteriovenous malformations, and ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. He is a National Institutes of Health R01-funded principal investigator who studies the biological mechanisms of brain aneurysm formation and rupture and how to use tissue engineering technology to improve aneurysm treatment.
