UF neuroscientist receives UF Excellence Award

Stefan Prokop, M.D., director of UF’s Neuromedicine Human Brain and Tissue Bank, was recently awarded the UF Office of the Provost Excellence Award for Assistant Professors.

Each year 10 award winners are chosen with nominees coming from each of UF’s 16 colleges and IFAS. The awards are focused on junior faculty and recognize excellence in research.

A leader in the field of neuropathology, Prokop’s research is focused on describing the telltale signs of Alzheimer’s disease using brain autopsies and his research activities involve UF’s Center for Translational Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases, the 1Florida ADRC and the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases at UF Health, where he was named the first Fixel Scholar in 2019.
